1. GENERAL INFORMATION

• Brazilian citizens or foreign nationals (bearers of valid Foreign Nationals Identity Card/ Registro Nacional de Estrangeiro - RNE ), can obtain a legal domicile certificate to prove his/her stay in Canada.
• Other foreign nationals who are not bearers of a valid RNE Identity Cards must legalize at this Consulate General a legal domicile certificate obtained locally. See Legalization.

2. REQUIREMENTS

• To obtain a legal domicile certificate the applicant must submit or send the following documents to the Consulate

Documents

• Brazilian identity card or valid Brazilian passport (original and copy);
• valid Foreign Nationals Identity Card/ Registro Nacional de Estrangeiro - RNE, when applicable (original and copy);
• legal domicile proof: income tax receipt , rental agreements, telephone or hydro bills and others (original and copy);

Form

• Fill up, date and sign the legal domicile form.

Fee

• The consular fee for the issuance of legal domicile certificate is Cnd $18.75, which must be paid through " money order" or " certified cheque" to the " Consulate General of Brazil in Toronto. Cash, personal cheque, credit or debit cards will not be accepted.

3. PROCESSING TIME

• The processing time for the issuance of a legal domicile certificate is 5 working days.

4. MAIL SERVICE

• The legal domicile certificate can be requested by mail. If the documents are sent by mail, do not send the original ones, but authenticated copies only. Please send a pre-paid and self-addressed envelope of Canada Post ( registered mail, xpresspost ou priority courier ) for return. Other courier services are not accepted. The Consulate General is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged or delayed mail.
