TEMPORARY I VISA FOR PERSONS DOING VOLUNTARY WORK FOR RELIGIOUS OR SOCIAL ASSISTANCE ORGANIZATIONS IN BRAZIL

As per Normative Resolution # 68, of December 7, 2005, a Temporary I visa is applicable to persons going to Brazil for voluntary work with religious or social assistance organizations in Brazil. In addition to the general requirements (see Visa Eligibility on www.consbrastoronto.org), this visa specifically requires the presentation of the following original documents:

  1. Letter of Invitation from the organization in Brazil signed by a duly authorized representative, stating the condition of voluntary and appointing the applicant for the designed mission (no remuneration whatsoever shall be paid);
  2. Record of Constitution of the organization in Brazil, such as any of the following: social statutes or records of designation of the current board of directors;
  3. Proof of the registration of the organization in the corresponding council of social assistance (national, state, municipal or the Federal District, accordingly);
  4. Document characterizing the place where services will be rendered and description of the activities that shall be performed (specific information on the activities to be performed, location and duration of the engagement);
  5. Affidavit from the organization in Brazil pledging responsibility for the financial support of the candidate and his/her return to the country of origin (Canada) upon completion of the mission;
  6. Proof of health insurance valid in Brazil (copy of original policy or detailed receipt proving purchase of such insurance. Letters from travel agents shall not be accepted);
  7. Police report showing that the candidate has no criminal records;
  8. Resumé that demonstrates previous work experience or degree for the field in which the applicant is requiring the visa;
  9. Proof that the organization is functioning regularly;
  10. In case the applicant is rendering services as a director, manager or administrator of a religious institution or a non governmental organization, act of indication to the intended position, with powers of representation, registered at the Brazilian proper government institution;
  11. One visa application form per applicant properly filled out online (https://scedv.serpro.gov.br), printed and duly signed (parents must sign for those under 18 years old and have their signature notarized);
  12. One recent photograph 5cmx5cm ( 2”x 2”) of applicant.  Please glue the photograph on the form as indicated;

 

PHOTOGRAPH SPECIFICATIONS

 

 

- The picture must be taken against an off-white plain background.

 

- The applicant’s face and shoulders must be centralized on the camera and he or she must be looking into the camera.

 

- No reflections, shadows or glares are accepted in the picture.

 

- The length from the bottom of chin to the top of the head must be between 31 and 36mm (millimetres) in heigth.

 

- The facial expression must be neutral.

 

- The eyes must be open and clearly visible.

 

- Glasses should not reflect any light. Neither sunglasses nor colorful frames are acceptable (no sunglasses or colored lens accepted).

 

- No head covering, excepting the ones used for religious reasons as long as they still enable the perfect visibility of the applicant’s face.

 

- Children carrying toys, with pacifier or showing the hands of the adult holding them will not be accepted.

13. Visa fee: Money order for Cnd$ 75.00, plus Cnd$ 25.00 if submitted by third party or by mail.
 Cash, personal cheques, credit card or debit card will not be accepted;

An  administrative fee of Cnd $187.50 must be paid by bearers of U.S. passports due to reciprocity.

14. Self-addressed pre-paid envelope from Canada Post (Xpress Post or Priority Courier), for the return of the documentation;

15. Passport valid at least for six months from arrival in Brazil.

16. Yellow fever vaccination is NOT OBLIGATORY. Nevertheless, vaccination certificate against yellow fever is recommended if applicant's destination in Brazil includes any of the following  states or regions:  Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, the Federal District (including Brasilia), Maranhão, southwest of Piauí, west and extreme south of Bahia, Minas Gerais, west of São Paulo, north of Espírito Santo, west of Paraná (including Iguazu Falls), west of Santa Catarina and west of Rio Grande do Sul. The cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are not included in this list.
