1. REQUIREMENTS

ELIGIBILITY
1.1. The applicants must travel to Brazil under the following conditions:

  1. business, except when the trip involves the provision of services (in which case a Vitem V is mandatory);
  2. media coverage or film making;
  3. flight/ship crew members without an international crew card , except if working on ship operating along the Brazilian coast or inland waters (in which case a Vitem V is mandatory);
  4. adoption of a Brazilian child; and
  5. participation in a trade/industrial exhibition.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1.2. Temporary Visa I I holders are prohibited from having any paid job in Brazil.

1.3. Temporary Visa I I holders are prohibited from engaging in any activity that involves the provision of services in Brazil, including intracompany, and even if not paid in Brazil.

1.4. This visa is good for multiple entries within the visa's duration. Please note that even when the validity of the visa exceeds 90 days, authorized stays are for a maximum of 90 days per visit (if necessary, an extension may be obtained with the Federal Police in Brazil, if requested prior to the expiration of the authorized stay; special requirements apply).

1.5. EXEMPTION FROM TOURIST AND BUSINESS VISAS. Citizens of some countries (click to see list) do not require a visa to visit Brazil for strictly tourism or business purposes, provided the stay does not exceed 90 days. Please find the country of your nationality to check if you need a visa.

1.6. Brazilian nationals must enter and leave Brazil with their Brazilian passport only.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AND PROCEDURE

1.7. One visa application form per applicant properly filled out online (https://scedv.serpro.gov.br), printed and duly signed, together with the following documentation:

  1. passport with a minimum remaining validity of six months (it must also have at least 2 blank pages available for visa stamp);
  2. for non-Canadian returning to Canada, copy of Permanent Resident Card or valid Canadian visa allowing for re-entry into Canada;
  3. for non-Canadian without a Permanent Resident card or valid Canadian visa, valid visa to country of final destination after trip to Brazil (this requirement does not apply to applicants returning to country of citizenship);
  4. One recent photograph 5cmx5cm ( 2”x 2”) of applicant.  Please glue the photograph on the form as indicated;

PHOTOGRAPH SPECIFICATIONS
- The picture must be taken against an off-white plain background.
- The applicant’s face and shoulders must be centralized on the camera and he or she must be looking into the camera.
- No reflections, shadows or glares are accepted in the picture.
- The length from the bottom of chin to the top of the head must be between 31 and 36mm (millimetres) in heigth.
- The facial expression must be neutral.
- The facial expression must be neutral.
- Glasses should not reflect any light. Neither sunglasses nor colorful frames are acceptable (no sunglasses or colored lens accepted).
- No head covering, excepting the ones used for religious reasons as long as they still enable the perfect visibility of the applicant’s face.
- Children carrying toys, with pacifier or showing the hands of the adult holding them will not be accepted.

  1. as applicable (requirement does not apply in the case of adoptions), applicant's business card and letter from the employer or sponsoring company in two copies on their letterhead stationary and signed by a senior manager - briefly introducing the applicant and clearly stating the precise nature of the business and activities to be conducted in Brazil;
  2. Photocopy of the round trip itinerary, with flight numbers, dates and places, or copy (we do not make photocopies) of the ticket to Brazil. The Consulate will also accept a signed letter from the carrier or travel agent, on company letterhead, with the name of the vessel, itinerary, dates of arrival and departure, to and from Brazil. Iteneraries or copies of the tickets must be presented at the time of the application;
  3. in case of film making of a commercial nature or documentaries about Brazil, copy of prior authorization by the National Cinema Agency – ANCINE (please check all the requirements for filming in Brazil in English, Portuguese or Spanish in the ANCINE’s website www.ancine.gov.br);
  4. as applicable (for journalistic activities or film making in Indian reserves or environmentally protected areas), copy of prior authorization by the competent government agency, Fundação Nacional do Índio – FUNAI/National Indigenous Foundation) (please check their website www.funai.gov.br);
  5. as applicable (for the purpose of adoption of a Brazilian child), appropriate documentation required by law;
  6. Yellow fever vaccination is NOT OBLIGATORY. Nevertheless, vaccination certificate against yellow fever is recommended if applicant's destination in Brazil includes any of the following  states or regions:  Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, the Federal District (including Brasilia), Maranhão, southwest of Piauí, west and extreme south of Bahia, Minas Gerais, west of São Paulo, north of Espírito Santo, west of Paraná (including Iguazu Falls), west of Santa Catarina and west of Rio Grande do Sul. The cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are not included in this list.
  7. appropriate visa and legalization payments, as applicable.

1.8. The requirements listed are not all-inclusive. When processing a visa submission, the Consulate may request additional information/documentation.

1.9. Except for business activities, all supporting documentation must be notarized. Documents that are not originated in Brazil must be authenticated by the Consulate. Copy of Brazilian supporting documents must be notarized by a Notary Public (“Cartório”) in Brazil. Original Brazilian documents do not require notarization.

CONSULAR FEES

1.10. The consular fee for a Temporary Visa II is of Cnd $75.00 (applications by mail: Cnd $75,00 + Cnd $25,00 = Cnd $100.00; plus a pre-paid and self-addressed envelope; see detailed instructions below), which must be paid by money order or certified cheque to the “Consulate General of Brazil in Toronto”.
Cash, personal cheques, credit card or debit card will not be accepted.

For citizens of the United States there is no longer a fee for Business Visa (Vitem II).
An  administrative fee of Cnd $175.00 must be paid by bearers of U.S. passports due to reciprocity.
For citizens of Angola the fee for Temporary Visa (VITEM II) is of Cnd $175.00, due to reciprocity.

APPLICATIONS BY MAIL  

 The same requirements above apply plus a pre-paid and self-addressed envelope (only Canada Post “Xpresspost”, “Priority Courier” or “Registered Mail” will be accepted) and a processing fee of             Cnd $ 25.00 per person (money order or certified cheque payable to the Consulate-General of Brazil in Toronto, in the total amount of Cnd $100.00).
